Sale - $5,000 firm
I've purchased a 2012 Lexus IS 350 w/ F-Sport package, so I am selling my MR2. It's an amazing car, but I am finally at the point in my life where it's no longer practical and I can't justify keeping two cars. The car is currently in Bothell, WA.
Overview
I bought my 1991 MR2 Turbo in 2003 with about 72k miles on it. Since then, I've not quite doubled the mileage, but I have certainly loved owning it. It has been the inspiration for this site (and the old one) and continues to turn heads. Unfortunately, I have to sell it. I took a job in Los Angeles that starts in September and it makes sense to sell my MR2 now rather than bringing it to downtown LA.
This is an extremely well-maintained car. There are not many MR2s still out there that have been maintained this well, and I have two binders worth of records to prove it, including the original window sticker! The fuel history since December of 2004 is available (and I can provide a spreadsheet, if desired). I also have the "big green books" (repair manuals), T-top shades and covers, owner's manual, articles from various auto magazines from the early 90s talking about MR2s, a laser-etched glass block depicting the MR2, etc. that will all go with the car.
Options
Stock options: turbocharger, 5 speed manual, T-tops, power steering, ABS, air conditioning, cruise control, leather, power windows, power locks, floor mats.
For a list of aftermarket modifications, see the mods page. Please note that the fog lights and turbo timer are no longer on the vehicle. This car has never been to the track for racing, drag racing, autocross, etc. and it has never been dyno tested, so I don't have any performance specs available.

Photos
I have made an attempt to capture the car as well as I can with the below photos, including dings, dents, and other imperfections. Let me know if you'd like any other photos and I'll add them below.
Recent Maintenance
In the past few years (10k miles), the following items have been replaced by Toyota technicians: coolant hoses, headlights, drive belts, oil pan gasket, oil pump seals, transmission fluid, distributor cap, rotor, spark plugs, spark plug cables, wipers, battery, timing belt, water pump, front oil seal, valve cover gasket and seals, and distributor o-ring seal. I spent quite a bit of money to make sure that the engine does not leak any oil.
Problems
Usually people selling cars try their hardest to hide any problems; however, I want this to go to someone who can be as passionate about this MR2 as I have been, and that means knowing the good and the bad. Here are all the known problems with this MR2:
- There is a dent on the left rear wheel arch.
- There is a ding on the driver's side door and on the driver's side exhaust tip.
- The TRD sticker fell off the top of the shift knob.
- The passenger-side trim is scratched lightly.
- Wheels are chipped/scratched and the laminant is coming off.
- Sound appears to just be coming out of the passenger-side speakers.
- Air bag light is on.
- Turbo has some oil blow-by.
- Air conditioning doesn't work.
- The fog lights are missing (they were stolen).
- Rear center panel is super red instead of crimson red.
- The wipers have some minor rust spots.
- Passenger-side mirror motor does not work.
- Despite all the maintenance, this car does have close to 140,000 miles on it, so there is wear on the original parts such as the engine, transmission, turbo, etc.
