The stock shift knob for the 1991 MR2 Turbo is fairly cylindrical with a thicker part on the top. The TRD knob is a tiny sphere, designed for quick gripping and fast shifting.

Opinion

I was waxing my car outside when a prior MR2 owner came over and talked to me. He had a second generation MR2 but wrecked it. He still had the TRD knob and boot from it, so he gave them to me! It took a little bit to get used to, but now I love it. The knob is small, but it's the perfect size for gripping with two fingers and a thumb.
